Mixed Media Collage Oracle Card Deck

I’ve been working on a mixed media accordion-fold book…and somewhere along the way it slipped unnoticed out of the realm ofplanningand into something far more intuitive.
What began as a structured idea loosened up, & I found myself following instinctinstead of intention. The triangle emerged early as a central motif: it’s simple, stable, and charged with quiet symbolism
From there, each page began to unfold on its own terms.
Layers accumulated: fragments of paper, marks, textures, symbols that felt right.
I stopped asking what things meant & started paying attention to how they felt: what they pulled forward, what they held back, what resisted clarity.
What’s surprised me most is the atmosphere these cards are developing.
Each one feels like it contains something just beneath the surface deep inside its own internal logic.
Not a narrative, exactly. More a system of relationships: shapes textures and symbols all echoing each other, reinforcing, interrupting, signalling.
They remind me of oracle cards in that way: they come just as you see them and whatever you see in them comes from you.
They offer a kind of open-ended encounter. Their meaning shifts depending on where you are when you meet them. They seem less interested in being understood & more interested in letting something unspoken surface for a moment …before slipping back under again.

If tarot is a map, oracle cards are threshold with vibes.
Oracle cards are similar to tarot but far less structured. Unlike tarot cards, there’s no standard system or set number of cards: each deck creates its own language. Where tarot follows a shared framework, oracle decks are completely fluid. Each one defines its own symbols, moods, and meanings.
That level of freedom is what I keep circling back to in this project. Each page offers a fragment rather than a conclusion.
