Mixed Media Oracle Card Deck
[a happy accident]
I’ve been working on a mixed media accordion-fold book, and somewhere along the way it turned into something a little more intuitive than planned. I chose a triangle as the central motif and let the pages evolve from there, building layers, symbols, and textures without overthinking their meaning.
What’s surprised me most is how these pages feel like they’re holding something just beneath the surface—small, self-contained worlds with their own internal logic. They remind me of oracle cards: open-ended, symbolic, and more interested in resonance than fixed interpretation.
…What are oracle cards…?
If you’re not familiar, oracle cards are similar to tarot but far less structured. Unlike tarot cards, there’s no standard system or set number of cards, and each deck creates its own language. Where tarot follows a shared framework, oracle decks are completely fluid—each one defining its own symbols, moods, and meanings.
That freedom is what I keep circling back to in this project. Each page feels like its own “card,” offering a fragment rather than a conclusion, something to sit with rather than decode.
There are currently 15 of these pages.
