Mixed mixed oracle card deck: a happy accident

I was working through Roxanne Padgett’s lessons in a little (giant! exciting!) course I’m following called Fodder School. The end project for July 2022 is to create a mixed media accordian-fold book. I got a bit carried away creating my pages and went off-piste from the start, choosing a triangle as the central motif rather than a dress.

I’ve been spellstruck by how lovely these pages are and how they seem to hold a deeper meaning glimmering in their depths.

Kind of like oracle cards

If you’re wondering what the hell I’m talking about…oracle cards are sort of like tarot cards but with non-standard names, non-standard definitions, and very few rules.

One oracle card deck can be as different to another as a starfish is to the bubonic plague, whereas tarot card decks conform to a 78 card definition, and general codified meanings.

I’m definitely more of a tarot card kind of person than an oracle card kind of person, because I’ve been reading them since I was 12 and basically now have the occult version of Stockholm Syndrome.

There are currently 15 ‘cards’ with more on the way.

Mixed Media Art Book - flip through. There’s no background noise of any importance here - just my garden in the morning.
